Transportation in My Davie Village

If you are visiting Gay Friendly Vancouver and Davie Village for the first time you might not want a car. Everything is close by or just a short taxi cab ride away. There are a number of hotels right in, or just a short walk from Davie Village. The gay bars and shops are mostly clustered within a few city blocks on Davie Street.

Vancouver Airport Sky Train

Public Transit in Gay Vancouver's Davie Village, (Vancouver's gaybourhood)

Public transit (the Skytrain) will pick you up right at the Vancouver airport and for just $7.75. (as of Jan. 2013 - note the ticket machines take major credit cards) will bring you right into the city, and just a 15 minute walk from Davie Village, or cheap cab ride with your suitcases. (The train back to the airport is just $2.50). If you opt to take a cab to/from the airport it is about $40 (early morning with no traffic) each way. If visiting Vancouver for the first time please note, the Skytrain from the airport is easy, clean and safe. (last time I rode it from the airport there were staff giving maps to tourists) The aisles are wide to fit your suitcases. Travel on the "Canada Line" (the only train arriving at the airport) to "Yaletown Round House". The train staton is right on Davie Street.

Hop on Hop Off Tour Buses

Like many other cities Vancouver has the “hop on hop off” tour buses.  You can choose from several tour companies operating trolley styled buses, the pink double decker buses and the big red buses.  All three seem to offer a one day pass for $40 and two day pass for $45 (Sept. 2013).  Decide what you want to see while in Vancouver first and then decide if these tour buses fit in with your plans.  They all offer various different tour packages so decide what's best for you.  If your plans include visiting Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension Bridge be sure to check the links on our North Vancouver tourist page to find out about FREE shuttles from downtown to both of these destinations.

Tourism Vancouver Gay Friendly
My Davie Village Gay Vancouver tourist picks:  while visiting Vancouver you really don’t need to rent a car.  If you are driving check with your hotel to see if parking is available.  Most hotels have parking.  Vancouver has a very good public transit system and many things are within walking distance of Davie Village.  But DO bring an umbrella.  ...just in case.
Local Travel Tip If you are coming to Vancouver from the United States you might consider checking out the airfare from your city into Seattle Washington as well as Vancouver.  Sometimes there is a large savings to be had by flying into Seattle.
