Adoptive Families Association of B.C. Children need parents. People in the LGBTQ community make great ones! AFABC hosts monthly meetings for current and prospective adoptive parents in the LGBTQ community. Come meet other families and share some stories. Yes, your kids are welcome to come along!

 

Gay/LGBT Youth Groups

Camp Fyrefly (Fire Fly) is an educational, social, and personal learning retreat for sexual and gender minority (LGBTTIQ) and allied youth  between the ages of 14 and 24.

Camp OUT providing camping experience for BC’s queer gay and allied youth aged 14-21 with support from UBC and the wider Vancouver community to create this opportunity for youth from all parts of B.C. and the Yukon to come together and CampOUT!

Fraser Valley Youth a drop in for queer and questioning youth

Generation-Out is a group for LGBTQ youth. The group is run through PLEA Community Services. And is supported by the Ministry of Children and Family. This group meets in a private, safe, fun environment for peer support, movie and game nights,and other group planned activities for youth ages 13 - 18. Maple Ridge/Tri-Cities /Vancouver

Glbtq Youth Grande Prairie A spot for GLBTQ youth and their friends and family in the Grande Prairie area to connect as well as gain support, awareness and education.

Nelson Youth Center provides a fun, safe and accepting environment for all youth to hang out and meet new friends in Nelson B.C. Link

Qmunity Center for support and special events for LGBTQ youth up to 25 years of age.

Surrey Youth Alliance Surrey Youth Alliance is a drop-in and support group for GLBT youth between 14 and 21 in the Fraser Valley and surrounding area.

LINK	Jewish Community Center of Vancouver A group for all youth to get together in a safe environment and talk about diversity, LGBTQ topics, politics, and advocacy. Meet 1st Sunday per month.

Pride Education Network advocates for an inclusive, respectful environment for all students, staff and families, regardless of their actual or perceived sexual orientation and/or gender identity, within all B.C. educational institutions.

Gay Straight Alliance is Canada’s website for safer and inclusive schools for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community.

Out in Schools Out in Schools curates films that compel youth to step into the challenges and the triumphs of LGBTQ youth.  The films debunk stereotypes, humanize LQBTQ youth and envision the next generation of LGBTQ youth and allies.

Housing for Gay/LGBT Youth

Raincity (Youth) Housing providing housing with supports and employment to LGBTQ2S+ youth between 18 and 25. Connecting youth with older members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, the goal being to provide safe, lifelong ‘chosen family’ or mentorship with mutual benefit for all parties.

Scholarships for Gay/LGBT Students

This list of scholarships is by no means exclusively for gay students and nor should youlimit yourself to just gay scholarships, or just to the popular ones everyone else is trying for.  There are numerous scholarships available.  There are too many to list, but included below are some resource sites for you to explore.  Most trade unions offer scholarships to their members and to the children of their members.  Many companies like Burger King, Wendy’s, The Bay, Petro Canada, and Sears all offer scholarships.  Be creative in your search.  There are many lesser known scholarships with less competition which will increase your chances of winning them.  Go for the gold!  You are the future!
